The Verace Neapolitan Pizza Association celebrates 30 years and promoted the first edition of Pizzafestival scheduled May 27 to 30, in the main squares of the city of Naples (and not only those) . To the “Made in Naples” have joined, in fact, over 100 pizzerias associated not only throughout the territory of Campania, but also in the rest of the world. Every pizzeria, from New York to Monaco, of course, Naples, will conduct events, tastings, pairings, special menus to celebrate “the uniqueness of the world’s most famous dish” prepared according to the canons of tradition codified by the Association since 1984.
The Festival will take place throughout the territory of Naples, in Piazza Dante, but there will be a central hub where you will be served from 26 May, a workshop in which children and adults will learn about the traditional preparation techniques, the chain of ingredients, content of technological innovation. Also in Piazza Dante, Monday, May 26, will be held the conference “Groundhog Day … 30” event that opens the Pizzafestival.
“The Neapolitan Pizza – said the president of Antonio Pace – is a product known all over the world, on all five continents and pizza have become masters and no longer the poor relations of restaurateurs”. “Pizza – added Peace – is a quality product and pizzerias have become trendy and no more premises to those who had no ability to pay”. “Now – he concluded – we must look to the future , for the next 30 years”.
The events were divided into six different “roads” associated with paths: tradition, art and creativity, wine, beer, bubbles and tomato. Among the scheduled events, just to name a few, stand out from the special menu Ciro a Santa Brigida hearing stories of cooking and tradition; the evening “Eat with your hands” “Antica Pizzeria Port’Alba“; “Tables prepared“, produced in collaboration with Napoli Comicon, at the pizzeria Umberto where you eat with a group of cartoonists Neapolitans who will carry out live a few strips of comics.

Organizers estimated to achieve an increase in sales of 20 per cent during the Pizzafestival. The event will take place at the same time also associated pizzerias in New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Seattle, Chicago, Vancouver, Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Melbourne, Kuwait City, Seoul, Monaco, Porto and Thaichung. Testimonial of Pizzafestival will be the photographer Oliviero Toscani, who will arrive in the city in June of this year to create a series of “portraits” of pizza.
The shots will be subsequently published in the guide 2015. Toscani begins with the faces of the masters of the Verace Neapolitan Pizza to create a photo essay that tells the love for pizza.
