The first weekend of July, coinciding with the XXIV General Conference of ICOM (International Council of Museums) for the first time organized in Milan (3-9 July 2016), the MiBACT celebrate this extraordinary initiative – usually devoted to specialists – creating the first edition of the “Festival of Museums”, a major national event whose realization will compete not only the major state museums, but also all public and private organizations who wish to join. The theme that will be the focus of this unprecedented two days is the relationship between museums and cultural landscapes, a subject identified by ICOM for Congress in Milan. For this occasion, on Saturday, more than the usual normal working hours, it will be provided an extraordinary opening night at the symbolic price of 1 euro, while the Sunday entrance is free as has become customary, and occurs at the first Sunday of the month.
One of the peculiar aspects of the initiative, as well as the common theme address, will consist of the program of events for time slots allocated to specific target audiences: on Saturday, families and children in the morning (9:00 to 14:00: The Heritage for children ), curious and passionate in the afternoon (14:00 to 19:00: the tale of Heritage, Largo expert behind the Heritage) and finally the general public in the evening, with events open to the competition of all the arts (19.00-24.00: the spectacle of culture); in all categories of the public it will instead be the day on Sunday fully dedicated (The Heritage for / all), with events focused on the theme of participation in the equity and wide space reserved for all associations of citizens and volunteers who contribute daily to the ” life “and” activities “of museums and cultural venues.
The Festival of Museums in retail prices and times:
- Saturday, July 2 – with schedules and costs in the ordinary course of the day and special evening opening of three hours a symbolic price of 1 euro, with gratuity provided for by law
- Sunday, July 3 – with ordinary times and the gratuity provided at each first Sunday of the month
