Have you ever visited the National Museum of Railways? What better time, then, if not the holidays to see the first train that ran through the stretch Portici – Naples, in 1839. A real gem, a unique piece in the world, such as luxury and ingenuity of the Bourbon.
The permanent exhibition is home to about 170 years of history of the locomotives. From those steam to electric, of every shape and type. For fans of the history of trains, they are also missed other creations, like the trains that transported the prisoners, or to know how it has changed over time in the design of the interior world of the two rails, as well as technologies have evolved through the construction of locomotives epochs.
The National Museum of Pietrarsa between Portici and San Giorgio a Cremano is open every Thursday from 14 to 20 hours, every Friday from 9 am to 16:30, Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 18. From Monday to Wednesday only for groups by appointment.
The success that has been achieved, thanks to the open day which were held concurrently initiative to free admission in national museums on the first Sunday of the month, has prompted the State Railways to plan further openings. Let’s see what dates.
