Will be the evocative rites of Holy Week the stars of “Shots of Passion”, the authentic photographic exhibition, curated by Marianna Tizzani, that from March 22 to April 12, will take shape and color in the church of San Paolo di Sorrento.

Author of the images, Gaetano Astarita, Sorrento doc, always fascinated by those rites from deep popular roots. “This explains Astarita – that would be simplistic to classify them as mere representations exterior of a religious sentiment, while crucial, perhaps because they appear intimately linked to the idea that everyone has the flow of life and death”. And, in fact, it seems there is country, hamlet or village in Italy that has not of his own and whose inhabitants do not be proud and jealous. Sorrento is no exception, where the representations of the Passion of Christ that are followed in the territory, less bloody but equally impressive when compared to other, reflecting the peculiarities of its citizens in the wake of the ancient local traditions.

“Someone might find it disrespectful to approach the Passion of Christ to my human passion for photography – continues Astarita – and perhaps would not wrong. But the desire to tell the atmosphere that you breathe and the feeling you get in those moments, through the sharing of frames stolen the passage of time, takes over and I hope to convey to visitors a little ‘of this pathos”.
