Fifteenth edition shade of Taburno for the Palio della Quintana. In the first week of July, from 1st to 5th, 1990, the village turns into a medieval village where you can meet people of a lost time, offering visitors an exciting trip back in time.
The historical group of Quintana Melizzano, Bandierai the Uffizi in Florence and the Historical Group of the Peoples of Certame animate a large parade in vintage clothes take to the streets where nobles and commoners, representing the five districts of the country: Ear, Linden, Gallo, and Torre Fiore. Drummers, bowmen and standard bearers parade to provide a stunning backdrop to the vaults of the banners of flag bearers, while halberdiers involve the audience with their march choreographed.
Along the procession, the elegance of the noble ladies in beautiful costumes distract the knights with swords engaged in intense battles that will make the scenario particularly engaging. With the historic parade will lift the curtain on the Palio della Quintana which is the heart of the event, in which the 5 districts of Melizzano you will face with their fighters armed with spears. These horse gallop towards a shape representative of a Saracen aiming their launches with the aim of putting a ring that at each step will always be smaller.
This year the program of the event will be full of all kinds of events. Do not miss the photo exhibition dedicated to the tradition melizzanese Quintana, the rural museum and popular music concerts. These are just some of the events that you can follow. The event is also an opportunity for a guided tour of the medieval castle Caracciolo D’Aquara and for the discovery of the delicious food and wine offered in the taverns of the area set up in the downtown streets for the entire duration of the event. For the little ones, the fun is guaranteed by the puppets involved in a Quintana specially designed and staged for them.
