Amelio Mazzella al lavoro

It will be the Aragonese Castle of Ischia, to host, from 26 December to 6 January, the original and charming crib ice Italy’s largest made by two virtuous artists flegrei Amelio Mazzella and his nephew Mimmo, that this year decided to outdo giving form to not one, but two masterpieces traveling, they’re bringing in tour along the boot thanks to large refrigerated trucks. Ferrara, Abano Terme (Padova) via Bussolengo (Verona) and Castellamonte (Turin).

Two big pieces, weighing 18 tons each ice crystal, which are already delighting young and old. The first is the traditional Nativity, starring characters well known to all: Our Lady and St. Joseph the ox and the donkey, presented in a classic version. The other, always skillfully carved in ice, is a tribute to the land of origin of the two artists. The authentic ice nativity scene “Under the sea”, in fact, recalls the underwater world and the beautiful archaeological Bay, one of the flagships of the Campi Flegrei (Naples) with a retelling of the Nativity in key aquatic. Some examples? The Child born in a big shell, while the Three Kings arrive at “the edge” of seahorses. A unique mix of fantasy, history, myth and legend where there is also space to Odysseus and Polyphemus.
