We still lack a little to June 5, the day 791 birthday of University Federico II of Naples, the largest university in the South and among the oldest in the world, but for some time getting ready and multiply the surprises. A taste, June 4, at 12.30, with the expected meeting of the students with the singer Jovanotti, Aula Coviello of the Department of Law in via Porta di Massa. And, full, needless to say, the planning of the big day. Among the many initiatives scheduled for 5 june, the delivery of an honorary doctorate to the Neapolitan Oscar-winning director, Paolo Sorrentino, scheduled for 16:30 in the Great Hall Historical of Corso Umberto I 40, preceded, at 14, by a musical interlude of New Orchestra Scarlatti in the cloister of the Complex of Santi Marcellino e Festo, in San Marcellino square and at 15, by the awarding of the best students of various faculties. At 18:30, the University Polyphonic Choir Federico II, directed by Antonio Spagnolo, greet the director of “The Great Beauty” on the staircase of Minerva with songs of Bankers, Attaignant, Arbeau, Kindleben, Elgar, Willaert, Henry VIII and Stephens. From 20, the festivities will move, however, in Piazza del Gesù, where Sorrentino will meet the public and, thereafter, the concert of Peppe Servillo and the Solis String Quartet.
But that’s not all. On the same day, it is scheduled to open special free entry to the beautiful Botanical Gardens of Via Foria and Central Museum of Natural Sciences and Physical in via Mezzocannone 8. And, again, forums, meetings, workshops “open doors”, guided tours, exhibitions and readings.
