All set in Sorrento Coast for the first “Penisola Sorrentina Festival“, a festival of music events inserted into the bill “Summertime 2014”, sponsored by the town of Piano di Sorrento. The “Sorrento Peninsula Festival”, whose concerts will take place all in the picturesque setting of Villa Fondi, consists of two phases: the first edition of “Enchantment of the Sirens”, organized by Syrene Music, under the artistic direction of Francesca Maresca, and the fourth edition of “Piano Jazz…and surroundings“, edited by Ats Sorrento Jazz, under the artistic direction of Antonino Esposito.
It starts August 15 with “To Mary” concert at the dawn of Francesca Maresca. Thanks for the new day and a time of great contemplation and meditation on the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. Francesca Maresca, accompanied by Paolo Mauro (violin), Patrizia Rocco (piano), Luigi Belati (accordion) and Antonio Ruocco, will present works by Piazzolla, Schubert, Caccini, Gounod, Mascagni and Vivaldi. According to appointment, August 27, with the sounds of swing singer Alessandro Tozza on stage with his band formed by Umberto Spiniello (drums), Massimiliano Albano (piano Hamond), and Gabriele Stotuti (trumpet)
It continues the next day, August 28, with Mas Que Tango, complimentary “pink” dedicated to Astor Piazzolla by Francesca Maresca, with Alfredo Martino (accordion), Catello Cannavale (piano), Gianfranco Coppola (bass) and Franco Gregorio (drums).
The musician Antonio Onorato, however, is the protagonist of the appointment on August 29. Along its twenty-year career and some of his most famous work record, the guitar virtuoso will perform with the Gibson 175, with acoustic guitar, classical guitar with the guitar and with the breath. Accompanying him on this journey among the Mediterranean flavors and colors of Africa, the Americas and the Middle East, there will be Angelo Farias on bass and Mario De Paola on drums.

“Paintings of Music” is the title of the concert on August 30. A musical project that the pianist Joe Amoruso present exclusively for the Sorrento Peninsula Festival.
At the end of the performance, Joe Amoruso will be presented the award Surrentum Events in 2014. Close the festival on August 31, the Pvm Trio, composed by Fabio Visecchi (piano), Cesare Pizzetti (bass) and Matteo “Mammolo” Mammoliti (drums). The group’s repertoire consists of original compositions and jazz standards. Their sound is typical of the hard-bop and be-bop, with forays into funk, latin and pop.
All concerts are free. Will start at 21, with the exception of the concert at the dawn of August 15. In case of rain, concerts will be held in the interiors of Villa Fondi. Among the initiatives related to the Sorrento Peninsula Festival, we note the photo exhibition “Highlights from the Sound” at Villa Fondi, August 19 to 31.
