Time of preparations for the XVI edition of the Naples Film Festival to be held in October. The neapolitan show, directed by Davide Azzolini and Mario Violini will focus once again on the paths Neapolitan loved by the public, with evenings in the company of the protagonists of the contemporary cinematic landscape, retrospectives that fans will rediscover the old masters on the big screen and competitions reserved to young people and film-makers from Europe and the Mediterranean.
The first concerns the retrospective anticipation, with a tribute that the Naples Film Festival intends to dedicate to the genius of Michelangelo Antonioni to celebrate 50 years of “red desert“, the film which won the Golden Lion in Venice in 1964. In the spaces of Metropolitan Cinema in via Chiaja, one of the historical locations of the Festival, will be screened four Antonioni’s masterpieces: the Eclipse (Italy, 1961), Red Desert (Ita/Fra, 1964), Blow-Up (Italy/Uk, 1966) and Profession reporter (Italy, 1974).
The Director of Ferrara is also the protagonist of the “Frames“, the section of the Naples Film Festival dedicated to photography which will give the possibility to the best works to be exhibited on display during the week of the Festival. The photos, to be submitted no later than September 1, must therefore be based on the proposed film in the week of the Festival. Ready also notices of other competitive sections of the traditional kermis: I am indeed been launched the notices of competitions of the 2014 Edition, all with a deadline only fixed to June 30, the date by which you must send the works.
Therefore, once again opens the showcase dedicated to young filmmakers who want to participate in the “Screen Courts Naples” and “Screen Naples Documentaries“, the two sections of the Festival dedicated to works by directors from Campania or turns which have as their object the Campania. Also “SchermoNapoli competition: fuori school” with the competition of short films dedicated to schools. But the Naples Film Festival is characterized as an International Festival thanks to the “Mediterranean Europe Competition” open to European films and the southern shore of the basin.

A window on the International cinematography pearls that remain out of the large retailers and that the audience will discover Naples during the Festival. And international gaze will widen this year thanks to the collaboration with “Alto Fest“, the project is an artist’s residence of Directors and video makers of across borders in private apartments to achieve a filmic work.
Confirmed space for new media with the “Premio SchermoNapoli Web” for Web Series. On the web works, the Naples Film Festival launches this year, in collaboration with the University Suor Orsola Benincasa, an Observatory on on-line multimedia production that at this early stage will be the direction of the Festival in the selection of the works.
And on the web is also the space of Neapolitan film festival which also launches its new site: the traditional address napolifilmfestival.com will be completely renovated space in design but also in content and that in the coming weeks will be further enriched.
