Naples also finally has its Palio: that of the Nativity. Launched in August, the singular artistic duel organized by the City of Naples, officially took off this morning, and will see the example of the famous Palio of Siena, 23 between associations, committees, parishes and individuals representing the same number of “capital city” of Campania challenge in the name of the crib more beautiful and distinctive. These districts that take part in the suggestive “Palio of the Manger”: San Ferdinando, Chiaia, Posillipo, Mercato, Pendino, Stella, San Carlo, Industrial Zone, Poggioreale, Arenella, Vomero, San Giovanni, Secondigliano, San Pietro a Patierno, Miano, Piscinola, Marianella, Chiaiano, Scampia, Soccavo, Pianura, Bagnoli and Fuorigrotta. The same that starting from this morning (from 10.00) up to 1.00 pm and from 5.00 to 8.00 pm (this evening), will present their works to the public trusting in the goodness of the jurors. Participants will compete for a prize of 9,000 Euros made available by “Bagno Elena“, from the “Antico Mulino Caputo” and “Gran Caffè Gambrinus“, who responded to the call for sponsorship published by Palace San Giacomo. The crib that will win the Palio will be exhibited throughout the year in the Church of San Severo al Pendino in via Duomo. Judging the contestants will be a panel of experts chaired by Master of crib Marco Ferrigno.
