Festival of Ancient Taverne, cuisine and tradition

Fifth edition of the festival  dedicated to the rediscovery of ancient flavors and traditions of Naples. Called the Ancient Taverne, the event will have as culinary heart of the event seven ancient taverns staged in the picturesque setting of the archaeological park of the Professional Institute, along the ancient Domitian. Rainbow colors and explosion of perfumes in a scene animated by more than 300 people in costume, where the care and quality of food will join culinary arts and setting borrowed from the eighteenth century. Glimpses of ancient daily life, folk dances, street vendors, and musicians to enliven the scene between soft lights of torches and braziers. But now we see what the program guests who will intervene.

STANDS

An exhibition of food and agricultural products highly qualified, both for its variety and for the high quality standards guaranteed.

FARM

Petting zoo organized by Masseria Pignata Varcaturo. In addition to observing geese, rabbits, sheep and pigs, the children can assemble riding on ponies and donkeys.

MUSIC AND DANCE

Tammorre and Putipù

During the event groups of dancers and musicians play guitars, tammorre, astagnelle and putipù, enlivening the ancient Domitian Way with villanelles, tarantella and tammorriate.

The posteggia

At lunch time and dinner, could not miss the legendary “parked”. Respecting the Neapolitan tradition, the musicians will stop at various taverns to perform in short concerts of traditional music in Neapolitan language.

STREET FOOD

Among pastas grown, rice balls, meatballs, tripe all’insalata, pears and musso, croquettes, fried squid and anchovies, visitors can taste the best dishes of fast food made in Naples.
