A concert to celebrate the genius of the German composer Christoph Willibald Gluck, which this year marks the third anniversary of his birth ( Erasbach, July 2, 1714 – Vienna, November 15, 1787 ). Is scheduled Thursday, March 6, at 7 pm, in the Lutheran church of Torre Annunziata, near Naples, with the artistic advice of Professor Antonio Tommaso Cirillo. On stage, the musicians of the trio “Bottesini” and Rosalba Eroico soprano who will perform a program of music by Gluck, but also during, Caldara, Paisiello, Mozart and Beethoven.
Gluck is considered by critics as one of the leaders of the so-called ” Viennese Classicism”. With masterpieces such as Orpheus and Eurydice (1762) and Alceste (1767) reformed “opera serious”, looking for a substantial balance between the music and singing. His reforms influenced the work of composers such as Mozart, Berlioz, Antonio Salieri, Cherubini and Wagner.
