Agnano’s gourmet temple

Le Due Palme in Agnano should be in every gourmet’s address book. An oasis of peace in a former crater not far from the ancient Roman spas, the family restaurant opened in the late 1960s to offer fine dining and a superb choice of wines and distilled spirits. The typically Mediterranean specialities on the menu open with mixed terrines and anchovies stuffed with provola cheese, paccheri with courgettes, shrimps and parmesan or calamarata with cuttlefish, artichokes and shellfish, and then T-bone steak or filet mignons with peppercorns and mushrooms to follow. [charme-gallery]Desserts range from babà with wild strawberries and cream, to nougat semifreddo and chocolate flans. In winter the central fireplace is lit and in summer dining is al fresco in the lush garden.
